The Archives Section
Archives are those records, created or received by a person, a family, an organization, a business or a government in the course of their life and work, which merit the preservation because they provide enduring value: because they provide evidence of or information about either functions, responsibilities, actions or transactions of the creator or about the life and times in which the creator conducted his/her affairs in the society in which he/she lived and worked.
Archives come in all forms, from hand written diaries to typed letters or word processed reports; form microfilms to electronic records to audio recordings from video tapes to DVDs; and from photographic prints to architectural plans.
Archives are kept in order to be used, for any number of reasons by any type of user.
Archives are tools that people use to look beyond the present moment and understand the wider context of the family, a community or a society.
